Small Town Cop Questions Life Choices After Being Asked “Why Don’t You Arrest Real Criminals”

Officer Tim Janda made a traffic stop this morning. A stop that seems to be altering the direction of his life.

Initially, the stop was for speeding, 45MPH in a 25MPH zone. During the stop Officer Janda found out the driver had allowed her registration to expire.

While issuing the two tickets to the driver she interrupted Officer Janda and asked a simple question. “Don’t you have anything better to do in life?” Why don’t you arrest real criminals?”

After the stop, Janda returned to his squad car and sat for five minutes dumbfounded. In his fourteen years as an officer, the only arrests he has made have been for underage drinking and criminal traffic (DUI & Revoked drivers).

“I became a cop to make a difference, you know by catching the bad guys,” he told CallTheCops. “That lady opened my eyes. I have wasted my life.”

Officer Janda is contemplating going back to school to become a Paramedic. “I might not be catching bad guys as a cop. But the day I start working EMS I will be saving lives. That will be how I make a difference in this word.”
