Rookie cop perplexed by having ticket book taken away for Christmas

Officer Malcolm Reynolds received a major surprise at briefing this morning; his ticket books were taken away from him. The rookie officer has been on the job for just under a year now. In his sort time as a cop he has become the officer known for issuing the most tickets.

Sergeant Washburne took all of the ticket books to ensure that Reynolds would not write a ticket during the holiday.

“This young man is a real go-getter. He has a lot of ambition that need some slowing down. So by taking away all his ticket books we make sure that he will not do something stupid like issuing a citation over Christmas. I mean seriously we are the city cops, not the State Patrol, we have souls… right.”

Officer Reynolds is not so happy.

“Why would they take my ticket books? Holidays are when we see spikes in traffic deaths. I distinctly remember in Dr. Tam’s Traffic Theory class the lecture on how many people die during a holiday versus any other day. This is the week we should be issuing tons of tickets.”

Chief Cobb explains it like this.

“People want some Holiday cheer. We can pull them over and ask them to slow down. But we are not total assholes so we will not issue a ticket. For a few days we will give nothing but verbal warnings. If the young cops don’t like it, well to bad… I am the boss so I make the rules.”

As of this writing officer Reynolds was making traffic stops on a regular basis. But due to his lack of ticket books he was only issuing verbal warnings.
